NSW: Five drown in weekend accidents
Five people drowned in three states on the weekend.
In New South Wales .. an extensive air and sea search failed to find any trace of a
15-year-old swimmer who went missing on the far north coast on Saturday.
The teenager was last seen about 150 metres out to sea at Cabarita Beach about 3 o'clock
(AEST) in the afternoon.
Police say a scaled down search will resume this morning.
Brisbane police say dangerous swimming conditions at the Gold Coast claimed the life
of a 24-year-old man who attempted to rescue two struggling children.
The man went missing while trying to assist a boy aged 10 and a girl aged 13 in waters
off Seaworld Drive .. Main Beach .. around 8.30am yesterday.
And in Tasmania .. three men who drowned after their fishing boat was hit by a wave
and sank off Tasmania's south-east coast were wearing life jackets.
A Tasmania Police spokesman says five people were aboard the boat which went down off
Eaglehawk Neck on the Tasman Peninsula just after 1 o'clock yesterday afternoon.
